a NEW movement with an OLD soul
The Red Can program was born out of the example of a local Bridesburg resident. Initially, two red trashcans were installed on the corner of Richmond and Lefevre Streets to accomodate people waiting for the bus. The idea worked and the Bridesburg Business Association put out the money to purchase 8 additional red trashcans for placement along Richmond Street. Each can has been "adopted" by a local resident, family, or organization and is maintained on a weekly basis. So far, the program has been very successful! But it is only because of the dedication of local, Bridesburg residents.

About the Red Can Program
As 2014 progresses, the hope is to double the amount of red trashcans throughout the neighborhood. We will be working with residents to identify high traffic corners that will benefit most from the placement of these trashcans. Please continue to check back as updates are made. In the near future, a log of each trashcan, location, and "owner" will be uploaded. This will give residents a direct contact in case an issue arises. Thank you to everyone for your continued support!
